It's The End of the World...

It's The End of the World

Speaker Jim

Paul to Timothy

1 Peter 4:7-11 is the text for today's study.

Other passages mentioning the End:
Matthew 19:28
Romans 8
2 Peter 3:13
Revelation 21

The End:End in this passage denotes culmination, not termination. This was the culmination of God's plan for our redemption.
Peters approach to the end isn't about predicting events, it's about asking the question: What kind of people should be in light of that and how we should act.

Sound judgement and sober mind: Peter uses this again in 2 Peter as reminder that we do have enemies, Ephesians 6,
and that they are not our political rivals etc. We need to focus on who we are and how we treat those around us.

For the purposes of Prayer: Prayer is the best way for us to be a part of Gods plan, and is needed to keep us in that aforementioned
sound judgement and sober mind

Above all else, love one another:
Love as being used here in the new testament, is a Verb, not a Noun. It's now how you feel, it's about the action of showing it.
To do so deeply means to be stretched out, it's not passive.
John 13:34-35

as Love covers a multitude of Sins: Sin here is to miss the mark, or to fall short. Think of it as the short comings or missteps. So for love coming over this
is not to make a big deal of bring up/track of how short you fall.

Offer Hospitality without Complaint: Remember this, God has never met a stranger. You need to treat people well, it is how you
reach the people around you as God intends us to do. It is how you grow, and you must be willing to welcome them in. And it
has to be from the heart. If the complaints are there, take the time to find out why and clear it out.

Employ your special Gift to serve God: Gods grace is so inherently wonderful powerful and wonderful that they can't be expressed
in any single gift, 1 Corinthians 12. It is through using these gifts that you manifest the grace of God.

Speaks the Words of God: Between serving and speaking, everything you do as a Christian and a member of the church
is to the Glory and wonder of God.

The idea is to let those around us to see the beauty and magnificence of God's Grace, and what life is when Jesus is in charge.
