Pastor Paul continues with looking at the book of II Timothy and the relationship between the Apostle Paul and Timothy. We look at a mentor relationship and the importance of this type of relationship.
II Timothy 1:1 (ESV)
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul was: A man called by God A man with a greater purpose A man who seeks to do God’s will Philippians 1:21 (ESV) “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” To Know Him and Make Him Known Mentor - an experienced and trusted adviser. Mentor: Experience in an area they offer advice on Trusted to give godly, sound advice Listens, helps, encourages, prays and motivates you. Fresh perspectives and views. II Timothy 1:3 (ESV) I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. II Timothy 1:4 (ESV) As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. II Timothy 1:5 (ESV) I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. Who in your life do you trust to give you godly advice? Who do you know well enough to be completely honest with? Who in your life do you know that brings those qualities to a relationship? Perspective, Wisdom, Godly Advice, Friendship, Accountability, Discipleship, Encouragement and Affirmation? Let’s get out of our comfort zones, be stretched and grow together in Christ!
